What happens when we let digital athletes evolve and compete?
Rivet League is a futuristic mechanical sports project we're building around that simple idea.
Meet the Rivets: mechanical creatures whose skeletal structures, movement, and strategies develop over generations through physics-based simulation. Some will thrive. Others will fail spectacularly. And sometimes, evolution might surprise us all.
The simulator is still in active development. We're building toward a league of individual athletes, bloodlines, rivalries, and championships.

Genetics Cup

The Genetics Cup is the heart of our planned racing league. Evolved mechanical athletes will race together, with results across a series deciding who rises, who holds their place, and who faces a second chance.
Around it, we're developing a path for new challengers, returning competitors, and exceptional champions. Follow the athletes, trace their bloodlines, and see which designs build a dynasty.
No championship has been held yet. Public competitions and official athlete introductions are still ahead.

Genetics Cup
The main competition, where qualified Rivets race for the title and a place in the league's next chapter. Successful athletes can continue competing while new generations seek their own way in.
Survival Cup
A second chance for Rivets who miss the Genetics Cup's leading places, with permanent retirement from regular competition at stake. In the planned format, placing keeps a career alive; failing to place means retirement. The Survival champion earns a return to the next Genetics Cup, while retired athletes remain part of the league's history.
Apex Cup
A proposed elite tier for exceptional competitors. A Genetics champion would earn a promotion challenge; winning means moving up, while losing means returning to Genetics with another chance to try.
A bloodline is bigger than one athlete.
Descendants are new individuals, not replacements for their parents. If both qualify, they can meet on the same track. Racing comes first; the longer-term vision includes new sports and new ways for those lineages to compete.

The project is built around a simple rule: performance comes from the simulation. The following principles guide the league we're developing.
Generations, not upgrades.
Rivets develop through simulated generations. Their frames, joints, actuators, and ways of moving can change as designs are varied and selected.
Physics has the final say.
A promising design still has to move. Evolutionary computation explores possibilities; simulated physics determines how those bodies perform.
No scripted winners.
Competition outcomes will come from the simulation. Success, failure, and the occasional spectacular flop emerge from what the Rivets can actually do.
